Diego Maradona Urges Current Argentina Players Don’t Deserve to Wear Their Shirts
Extremely hard words!
Even the return of Lionel Messi couldn’t save Argentina from defeat: the team lost in a friendly, but the important match with “Venezuela” - 1:3.
Messi was in self-imposed exile after the nation’s defeat to France at the 2018 World Cup, wrote Givemesport. Now the football star deals with other players, which are not so professional, as his colleagues in Barcelona.
The defeat became a shock to Diego Maradona, Argentina legend and 1986 World Cup winner.
He has said, the team is exceptionally poor and the players don’t deserve to wear the shirts.
“It hurts me because I feel Argentinian to the core, but with the generation of players like [Oscar] Ruggeri, [Gabriel] Batistuta, [Claudio] Caniggia... the current team don’t deserve to wear the shirt and those players had it tattooed on them.
He also criticizes Claudio Tapia, the president of the Argentinian Football Association from 2017, and said that Tapia has no idea what he’s doing.
Do you consider such words to be fair?
